Japanese design studio YOY (previously featured here and here) have sent us their latest project WALL STITCH – a collaboration with K’s Design Lab. WALL STITCH is a proposal for a new sign design, which was presented at Tokyo Designers Week 2014 for the first time. The project employs the latest in modelling techniques and hi-resolution 3D printing to execute the lettering, which closely resembles hand-stitched embroidery directly on the wall. Both the texture and specific tactile features of thread are achieved with plastic-printed materials, and can be painted with any gloss colour. Various fonts and styles can be fixed on a spectrum of walls, such as concrete, glass, and tiles. Amazing! See more embroidery projects on Yellowtrace.
