Dearest Yellowtracers,I cannot believe we are here celebrating the almost 6th Yellowtrace birthday (the actual birthday is on December 1st – the day unofficially known as the #YellowtracePublicHoliday!). As you’ve come to expect, this is the post where I get all soppy and emotional, as I give myself permission to stop for a minute and reflect on what we have achieved and how far we are yet to go…Last year marked a huge turnaround for our business with a string of major achievements. This year was, in many ways, one of the toughest we’ve faced – we had our fair share of tough times and flat-out failures, but it’s not all grim, as we’ve had a few wins too. Despite all the challenges, Team Yellowtrace has never been more passionate about this special little corner of the internet. I personally continue to be profoundly grateful to all of you for coming back to Yellowtrace, for bringing your friends along, helping us grow this little beast and allowing us to continue to do what we love – being the advocates for the very, very, VERY best in design, architecture, events and travel both in Australia and around the globe. This year we’ve added a few more clever contributors to the team, with more amazing peeps joining us in the coming weeks and months. In addition, 2015 has been a pretty serious year of travel for Team Yellowtrace. After traveling to Milan for Salone in the first half of the year (where we attended the official Salone dinner – one of those “pinch me, is this real?” moments), we once again delivered our epic MILANTRACE Edizione 2015 – a comprehensive digital report & video series dedicated to Salone Del Mobile & Milan Design Week. In parallel to this, we also set off on a national speaking tour (full recored talk here) which brought Milan Design Week to more than a thousand architects & designers in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Second half of the year saw us travel to Hong Kong (twice), China, Copenhagen (where I lost my marbles at the Grundtvig’s Church, and also got to hang out with GamFratesi in their beautiful home), then London for the Design Festival (where we saw the extraordinary Ai WeiWei exhibition at RA). Once again, Yellowtrace has received a bunch of amazing press throughout the year, with a couple of the highlights being featured by the incredible Elle Decor Italia, as well as the amazing Danish RUM ID. I mean, that’s pretty damn cool, no?Anyway, I think it’s time we get down to the business! Given that 2015 was such a big year of travel for us, we thought it would only be natural to celebrate our 6th birthday by giving one Yellowtracer and their friend the chance to travel. How awesome is that? In keeping with our tradition, we are asking you to complete a short reader survey and tell us what you think, and by doing so, be in the running for a trip to Hong Kong, courtesy of Cathay Pacific Airways. In addition, the winner will get to stay and dine at the magnificent The Upper House Hong Kong, courtesy of Swire Hotels. You guys, I am almost jumping out of my skin typing this. It’s so, so exciting to be able to offer this incredible opportunity, and to be partnering with Cathay & Swire to make it happen. By the way, this giveaway is open to all Yellowtrace subscribers residing in Australia. Easy peasy! THIS GIVEAWAY HAS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR YOU PARTICIPATION.
