Like a summer evening breeze, Uchronia settles in the Orangery of the Hôtel de Sully for Paris Design Week 2023. A radiant, colourful atmosphere spreads from room to room, reminiscent of a sunset piercing through the arched windows. Like that magical moment of changing light, the show embraces the gradient in all forms, exploring colour not as a static shade but as an evolving spectrum. The interior display is an ode to traditional French know-how between brocades, stucco, marble, resin or raku. In the centre of the Orangery, a flower unfurls into a large-scale screen, the Cherry Blossom, inlaid with resin, plaster and lacquer by Atelier Roma. The wave and flower motifs favoured by Uchronia are combined and blown up to an extraordinary scale, as the specimen tables of the 19th century revealed the riches of their worldly patrons. The screen displays the many techniques, patterns and finishes Atelier Roma can accomplish.Gemstone-inspired Tones & Forms: Haussmannian Apartment in Paris by Uchronia. In a Haussmannian building in Paris’s famous Golden Triangle is an apartment that dazzles like a jewel box. The circular bed, with a crown-like wrap-around headboard, has been created in collaboration with Lit National. The scene is enhanced by a giselle with wicks and sconces with flowers entirely covered in a fishnet-like grabbed and petals hemmed with a velvet thistle made by Passementerie Verrier, as well as a hear t-shaped pedestal table with a long, shimmering fringe. The ensemble is overlaid in a spectrum of new fabrics designed by Uchronia and woven by Manufacture Prelle. For the first time, a Uchronia outdoor collection appears to spring from the ground in the Sully Gardens. Crafted from exterior steel, the Sunset Bench and Sunset Chair resemble that magical moment of the day when the sun descends, and the sky transforms from its uniform blue into a mesmerising spectrum of colours. The setting is completed by a set of outdoor floor lamps crafted in Paris by Crealum’in. With a flower-shaped base sprouting a tall curved stem and pierced wavy shade, a shadow is cast like the sun radiating light. The pieces sit amongst the manicured plants, completing this enchanting setting.
