Parisian fashion house Sonia Rykiel has collaborated with Uchronia in a daring pop-up store on the city of light’s right bank. Working alongside creative director Léa Sebban, the architectural collective has reinvented the French icon’s codes, more than fifty years after the opening of its first boutique in St-Germain-des-Prés in May 1968.

The brand’s resolutely graphic and colourful universe inhabits each corner of the space, taking visitors on a journey through the house’s key inspirations. The strong colours matched by bands of black in the signature Rykiel stripe, have been interpreted on an architectural level, with red and orange lacquered rooms divided by rooms of black.

Brushed steel and mesh have been introduced by Uchronia, highlighting the use of strong block colours and adding a more contemporary dynamic to the interior.

The clash between classic and futurism continues with floor and ceiling mirror surfaces mixing with rows of triangular bookshelves that offer different views depending on your position—a tribute to Sonia Rykiel’s love of literature. Within the shelves are mysterious alcoves that offer a glimpse into past collections, and accessible through a metal mesh curtain is the ‘Forever Room’ dedicated to the house’s most iconic pieces.
