Nestled in a quiet neighbourhood in Gujarat, India this space is a creative haven for Vadodara-based artist, Prachi Shah. Imagined by Vidhi Malkan and Forum Shah of the multidisciplinary design practice Tosh, a forty-year-old, one-bedroom apartment was transformed into an art gallery and personal studio for the artist. The experience begins at the entrance, with guests welcomed with a quote by Georgia O’Keeffe engraved on the entrance door. “[These] words have resonated deeply with the artist,” Vidhi and Forum explain. Inside, the space opens like a wide canvas where artworks are displayed. A Mediterranean vibe pulses through the exhibit space—marked by turquoise-painted French doors, hand-plastered walls, vintage switchboards, brass screws and terracotta flooring. Everything comes together to transport you into the artist’s world.Moving deeper into the volume, Prachi’s workspace is big and open-plan. Views of Champa blossoms can be seen through intentionally detailed windows and on one side sits a reading nook and lounge designed to enjoy the view. A large timber table sits in the centre of the space alongside wall-mounted easels, designed for flexibility as both display and working stations. The space can seamlessly transition into a multi-purpose room for craftwork and discussions, emphasising the fluid nature of Prachi’s work.Burr Studio Transform an Industrial Warehouse in Madrid into a Photographer's Home & Studio. This home and studio for a photographer is one in a series of renovations by Burr that responds to the city's dwindling industrial...
