Inspired by the hard-edged beauty of brutalist architecture and Carlo Scarpa’s famed relief details, Rilievo is the first in-house designed rug collection from global curators Tigmi Trading. The 5 piece collection explores geometrical forms and the interplay between positive and negative space created by shadows cast from relief elements. The effect is realised through the contrasting details of lustrous New Zealand wool on a soft linen lining.Anchored in tradition but with a contemporary mindset, Tigmi has expanded from their formative years as a rug purveyor, establishing themselves as a formidable interiors brand with a distinctive eye. Creating their own rug collection has long been on the cards for the brand. Scarpa’s choice of materiality and the way he revelled on the smallest of details added another dimension to his designs – which Tigmi hope to achieve with Rilievo. While the geometric relief captures the attention at first glance, the take-away is a sublimely balanced one-coloured rug. All designs are offered in the richly natural palette based upon Tigmi’s own colour theory that felt significantly representative of the brand’s identity. Aligning with their environmental ethics to inspire and create without detriment, Rilievo is entirely made-to-order.“Our aim is to keep pushing ourselves and customers to think and buy consciously – beautifully aesthetic, socially and ethically made design,” says Danielle. “We don’t believe you need to sacrifice one for the other.”Rilievo collection is available to order from tigmitrading.com/rivielo Related: Tigmi Trading Launches the Organic Table Collection.
