Lisbon-based design studio THER explores materiality through a curious lens. In a creative partnership between Natasza Grzeskiewicz, a talented ceramicist and Tomás Fernandes, an accomplished woodworker, each designer brings a distinct set of skills to the table. The duo likes to experiment in the space between the two mediums, finding joy in the process as much as the result. In their inaugural collection ‘Duality of Matter’, Natasza and Tomás weave a tapestry of inspirations, influenced by the fusion of these opposing skills. Expressive yet minimalist, the collection consists of stools, chairs and objects crafted from timber and clay.Tomás’ timber stools and chairs reflect his grasp of geometry with clean lines and natural edges where possible, occasionally polished with natural oils and waxes to enhance their inherent beauty. Some pieces utilise a specialised technique called Yakisugi, a traditional Japanese method of charring the surface of the wood without combusting the whole piece.A Nod to Knots and Grains: Timber Structures by Lillie Thompson and Jess Kneebone. This self-initiated photographic series exploring timber forms within the furniture landscape—exploring the diversity of its texture... Unglazed, her creations add a layer of raw authenticity that harmonises with the texture of the timber. The collection is marked by a gentle softness of forms and a thoughtful, responsible approach to creation—hinging on a joint value in designing and producing exceptional items in limited volume. Working with chestnut and acacia timber as well as clay from the Iberian Peninsula, this conscious approach to design allows THER to work with a span of different materials and create valuable, intimate relationships with both buyers and craftsmen.Ceramic Lighting & Candelabra Collection by Jan Ernst.Crafted from white stoneware, the collection features sharp, undulating edges and a bright light reminiscent of fire from a cave...
