In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a former foundry has been transformed into a hub for the discerning modern workforce. The New Work Project, a premium workspace provider, has unveiled ELEVENTH—an expanded coworking space that brings together style, functionality, and community, along with meeting and events space—The Annex.

Founded by James Davison and Fanny Abbes, principals of interior design studio The New Design Project, ELEVENTH is the latest addition to their growing portfolio of neighbourhood workspaces. It follows their original space TENTH, which we’ve previously featured here. This new offering reflects the increasing demand for flexible work environments that prioritise design and proximity to home.

“Our ongoing growth reflects the growing demand for meticulously crafted neighbourhood workspaces that empower individuals to work with increased flexibility, closer to their homes,” explains James Davison, Co-Founder and CEO of The New Work Project.

The space is bathed in natural light and offers breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. There are twelve private studios and eight dedicated desks. The Lounge, with its semi-circular velvet-upholstered breakout booths, provides a semi-private space for informal meetings and collaborative work. Perhaps the most striking feature is The Gallery, an open yet private area flooded with natural light from a large overhead skylight. Vertical chandeliers in polished nickel hang above eight dedicated workstations, each separated with bronze glass privacy screens—a design element that features prominently throughout the public spaces.

Fanny Abbes, Co-Founder and Creative Director shares insight into the design process: “We began the design process for ELEVENTH by surveying our existing members to understand their workplace needs. Their valuable feedback led us to incorporate biophilia and skylights, create distinct task zones, and install semi-circular breakout booths, fostering wellness and productivity through collaboration.”

The attention to detail extends to the conference rooms, where a custom wallpaper installation by Designtex is reflected in oversized circular wall mirrors. Wishbone chairs sit alongside conference room tables designed by The New Design Project, creating a harmonious blend of form and function.

Complementing ELEVENTH is The Annex, a dedicated meetings and events space added in 2022. This addition directly addresses the needs of remote teams looking for unique and adaptable spaces for periodic meetings, offsites, and company retreats.
