Terrence Campagna Transforms Old Picture Frames & Discarded Materials Into Art.

Terrence Campagna is an American multi-media artist and field researcher. He uses new and found pieces of timber, and other recycled objects like coat hangers and picture frames, to make art that is both painterly and sculptural. Gathering timber from a range of places including Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, New York and others, Campagna pieces together beautifully weathered pieces with newer and bolder painted accents inspired by the traffic signs on the interstate highway.

A large portion of the timber he uses were collected in rural areas, sourced from decaying buildings that once housed agricultural tools, animals and grains. In some ways, his work encapsulates the blurriness our eyes encounter when taking in the contrast of aged buildings and new road signs seen while driving fast down highways.

It makes me want to try this at home with a bunch of broken IKEA frames, but something tells me the results won’t be nearly as attractive.
