Thai fashion label Jaspal has opened a new flagship store in Bangkok designed by Milan-based Studiopepe. The 460sqm space is set in IconSiam, the largest and most exclusive retail complex in Thailand that directly overlooks the Chao Phray river.Studiopepe created a contemporary and sophisticated atmosphere that complements Jaspal’s clothing collections. Pretty, yet not overtly feminine contrasting materials such as concrete, raw timber and natural materials including rattan and linen characterize the aesthetic. Large columns at the entrance and rear wall are covered in handmade ceramics arranged in a textured, ridged pattern that almost resembles scales.Tiles appear throughout the store, cladding vertical surfaces and displays with an iridescent veil. The glazed ceramics are a nod to local traditional craftsmanship, reinterpreted in colours that speak to the Jaspal brand; shades of milky white, celadon green and coral. Brass-trimmed full height metal tubes with woven straw frames define the open layout, creating circular carousels and vignettes to display garments and accessories. Natural timber features as skeleton shelves and semi-circular screens shielding the dressing room area and boutique window. The overall colour palette revolves around neutral tones of powdery cream, nude, terracotta, green, with brighter touches like shiny baby pink changing rooms standing out.
