Immersed Office Installation by Studio Quetzal Inspired by The Deep Blue Sea.

Three young French designers from Studio Quetzal — Benjamin Lina, Louise Naegelen and Adrien Gadet — have created an award-winning installation for the recent Design Parade festival at Villa Noailles in Toulon. Titled “Immersed Office”, the installation was inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, featuring a deep blue ombre effect on the walls, with colour wrapping down to the floor. The boundary between the walls, ceiling and floor faded to create the illusion of infinite space, symbolised by the dark blue of the deep sea and the brilliant white of a distant and shimmering surface.

The interior was structured in two parts: an open space outside, and a more intimate space containing the office designed for concentration. The timber shelving structure located at the centre of the space was reminiscent of the boat hull, while the writing desk – made from flexible plywood – was shaped like a wave. “This workspace offers creative immersion in close contact with its environment and evokes in its composition a boat submerged in water. It is both a space of meditation, introspection and creation,” explain the designers.
