We’ve written about our love for Studio AUTORI before, and it’s so exciting to see how their work has developed over the past couple of years. Based in Serbia, the team of four work across architecture, interior and furniture design with a focus on storytelling and custom solutions. Today we’re sharing their latest residential project, a private apartment within a typical 60s building in Belgrade, Serbia. In response to the brief to clear, open and brighten the space, Studio AUTORI reconfigured the layout to create one dominant central space that includes the kitchen, living and dining areas. Glass partitions that can be curtained off for privacy separate the study, bedroom and bathroom – a flexible solution that ensures light filters though the home as much as possible. A suspended ceiling was removed to reveal the original ‘avramenko’ ceiling and add height to the space. The treatment of floors, walls and ceiling is reduced and clean to further brighten the space, including polished concrete and crisp white paint. We love that Studio AUTORI custom-designed a number of pieces for the interior, including the kitchen joinery, shelving, lighting, curtain railings, bathroom vanity and shower detail. Their geometric approach is really fresh, using circles to punctuate their designs and curved lines to give rhythm. Lacquered black framing gives the interior a self-assured boldness, and we love the fresh palette of navy blue, deep green, dusty blue and peach.Studio AUTORI reflect on their selections, sharing: “We approached the selection of materials and colours very carefully and combined the custom made furniture with repaired pieces of vintage furniture and contemporary design like the FLOS and Vertigo Bird lighting.” We dig.
