Stephanie Hornig is a young Austrian designer who studied design in Berlin, worked with Patricia Urquiola in Milan, before moving on to her current home in London. Clean and utilitarian forms are the hallmark of her work. Hornig’s minimalist chairs, geometric tables and accordion shelves celebrate the beauty of everyday objects, each made new with her fresh approach to colour and new twist on old ideas. “A sleeping bag on legs, a parasol stand with a large table top and a torch in an outlet power strip made of stone” is the way the designer describes her Camp project. This range reflects the designer’s experience with a life of constant nomadism, and her feeling of displacement wherever she arrived to. The Set bookshelf is the result of Hornig’s experience with braiding techniques. The shelf is an adjustable object that can be fixed in two positions – “the abstraction of a braided mesh wire fence” says Hornig.
