Cult Byron Bay boutique St. Agni have opened up a flagship store on James Street, Brisbane, with interiors by cross-platform Australian design studio We Are Triibe. St. Agni is the latest in a string of retail projects by the studio for Aussie brands including Aje, IN BED and Assembly Label.

Aiming to elevate and refine the brand’s retail presence while staying true to the St Agni brand, We Are Triibe co-founders Jessica d’Abadie and Christina Symes found inspiration in natural, earthy textures while infusing a signature sense of calm in their approach.

“Every project we work on is built on a foundation of environmental psychology; we design to make people feel happy, productive, relaxed and comfortable in their spaces, and the earthy tones and lightness of St. Agni’s store is reflective of this value,” says d’Abadie.

The corner site features paved stone floors, shades of nude and timber fixtures. We Are Triibe engaged local and international artists and product designers to create custom joinery pieces throughout the interior, creating focal points through textured materials and sculptural work.

These include a timber point-of-sale desk by Sydney-based furniture designer Olivia Bossy, hemp display plinths by Berlin artist Yasmin Bawa and a large custom ceramic lamp designed by Byron-based Coe Studio. A stepped shoe display features the leather footwear St Agni is known for, while racks displaying clothing collections neatly line the opposite wall.

The St Agni store is one of a number of new openings on James Street, along with the neighbouring Calile Hotel. We Are Triibe have worked on three James Street projects thus far. Says Symes, “James Street is definitely becoming a one-stop shopping precinct. We always love working in Brisbane, our home town, and love watching the city grow in such an exciting direction.”
