Sight Unseen co-founders Jill Singer and Monica Khemsurov launch their first-ever furniture collection at this New York Design Week. With their online magazine dedicated to discovering what’s new and next in contemporary design, this is a natural fit for the editors. Five new pieces curated by Singer and Khemsurov are being released, produced in collaboration with Bestcase, a Long Island furniture brand specialising in sheet metal.

The aim of the collection was to showcase the possibilities of industrially produced metal through designs that channel Sight Unseen’s preference for works that are simple yet visually striking. Khemsurov and Singer spent the better part of the pandemic working with Bestcase co-founder Charles Constantine to create the line, and also to dream up two of the pieces, which Constantine designed: a mirror-polished aluminium room divider and a throne-like stool with an upholstered cushion.

The editors also brought in tables by the Swiss creative duo Thevoz-Choquet, a mirror by the New York interiors and furniture firm Home Studios, and a bar cart by the London office Studio Anansi. With their metal profiles softened by curvaceous geometries, contrasting materials, and playful colours, all five pieces are an apt reflection of the magazine’s same energy and vitality.

The full edition is meant for both the contract and residential market, and will be available for sale in May through Bestcase’s distributor network and Sight Unseen’s storefront on 1stdibs.
