Golden balanced the aspirational and the authentic for the Seen Skin HQ in Prahran, Melbourne, aligned with the holistic skincare clinic’s celebration of the beauty in imperfection. A collaboration with specialist building S&K Group, the flagship seamlessly blends the polished with the raw, reflecting the brand’s honest approach to beauty.

The interior harmoniously combines machine manufactured with handmade elements within an existing heritage building. Golden both enlivened the street-level retail space to entice new customers and passersby, while imbuing a transition to waiting and treatment rooms with intimacy and discretion.

The street-facing retail space offers a tactile contrast of textures bound by a tonal palette of calm, earthy shades. Raw materiality sets the tone for holistic healing and product. Rendered walls have a unique texture resulting from a careful hand-trowelled application, developed by Golden in close partnership with a plasterer. Their curved shape encourages a full circle visual journey back to a glass brick entrance, whilst subtly demarcating a private waiting area without compromising on space in the narrow building.

Organic granite counters from Corsi & Nicolai are offset by the symmetry and pragmatic finish of acrylic 2pac joinery. Open shelving provides a polished and minimal display for take-home product. Beneath, more exclusive elixirs are housed elusively behind closed doors.

Golden manages to uphold aesthetic fluidity whilst catering to treatment requirements with innovative design solutions, such as the pairing of bamboo matchstick over block-out blinds. Doors inlaid with Kvadrat/ Maharam jute wallpaper and finished with Buster & Punch handles provide an organic, focal grounding within the otherwise restrained treatment rooms.

A reductionist approach to expressive interiors sees Golden frame client experience from arrival to departure at Seen Skin. The project demonstrates an intuitive understanding of the impact of physical environments on our wellbeing, with the space ensuring an immersive and sensory introduction to the world of holistic skincare.
