Casa G is the sort of place you’d expect from a seaside dwelling in Sicily – rounded doorways, bright white walls, vibrant tiles and a rooftop view with a serene panorama of the coast. Architect Librizzi Studio’s designs often embrace a sense of openness and Casa G is definitely consistent with Librizzi’s style – it is a structure that just seems to mould into the surrounding landscape.“When thinking about Sicily, it is almost impossible not to fall on the easy traps of stereotypes surrounding its imagery. A winterless weather, the images of great seas and white sands, colourful ceramics and traditional finely decorated spaces are deeply rooted in the memories and expectations of anyone on the island. The great luxury offered there to designers is also the only possible strategy: totally abandoning any resistance” explains Francesco Librizzi on his website. The spectacular stair in this apartment represent something Sicily has to offer to anyone trying to capture the soul of the island. That lack of resistance is vividly apparent in Casa G – you simply want to let the wind take you to the upper reaches of the structure. The staircase gives the impression that it’s floating mid-air, leading you to the rooftop view of Cefalù’s colourful and tranquil lifestyle. Related Posts: Stairway to Heaven. Staring at the Stair.
