Melbourne-based designer Sara Levitas has unveiled her debut furniture collection characterised by grounding timber tones and undulating forms. “The Montreal collection was born out of a desire to recapture the fleeting memories of sitting in a warm, sun-drenched room with crisp Montreal winter light filtering through the window,” Sara explains.Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences, including the Vienna Secession and Arts and Crafts movements, the captivating aesthetics of Ukrainian and Latvian folk art, as well as the autumnal forest landscapes of Montreal and Melbourne, Sara crafted pieces that seamlessly blend old-world craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities. With a keen focus on creating timeless, heirloom-quality pieces that will be loved for a long time, the collection is entirely hand-made to order in Melbourne by a small, devoted team of craftsmen, many of whom have honed their skills working under some of Europe’s finest artisans.A Nod to Knots and Grains: Timber Structures by Lillie Thompson and Jess Kneebone. This self-initiated photographic series exploring timber forms within the furniture landscape.
