In the leafy coastal suburb of Middle Park, Victoria, Panorama is Sally Caroline’s latest project that balances sophistication with playfulness, creating a dynamic family home that maximizes its privileged bayside position.

The renovation centred on enhancing the home’s connection to its surroundings, with Sally Knibbs, Founder and Director of Sally Caroline, crafting spaces that frame both bay and city views. “The clients wanted the home to better embrace its surrounding views and sought a layered interior that would soften the architecture’s angularity,” explains Sally.

At the heart of the transformation lies a sculptural kitchen featuring an island bench crafted from solid blocks of Arebescato, Brescia Green, and Menta marble. This technical piece required expert stonemasonry and precise engineering, complemented by hand-finished stainless-steel cabinetry with bronze finger pulls‚a dramatic departure from the original black finishes.

The upper level underwent strategic modifications to maximise views, with the removal of a perimeter banquette making way for a serene lounge area in landscape-inspired tones. The dining space found new life along the northern edge, complete with a hidden bar for sun-drenched entertaining.

Downstairs, the renovation reveals a playful spirit with the ground floor transformation into an open rumpus and music room. Here, a polished stainless steel-clad column draws water reflections inside, while an Edra Boa Sofa and custom sea green pool/ping-pong table create a sophisticated yet fun atmosphere.

Throughout the home, carefully curated art and furniture pieces add personality, including bespoke works from Sally Caroline’s SC Collection and statement pieces like a tattooed leather credenza by Tyler Hays of BDDW. “The clients were excited to expand their collection with spirited works, which were such a joy for us to curate,” notes Sally.

The project showcases Sally Caroline’s philosophy that “residential interiors must address beauty, functionality and emotion in equal measure”—a principle executed in this dynamic home that celebrates both its location and its inhabitants’ vibrant lifestyle.
