Wall Cloud in Tokyo by Ryuichi Sasaki.

Sections of wall appear to hang from the ceiling of this former warehouse club in Tokyo, which was converted into offices by local studio Sasaki Architecture.

Wall Cloud is situated a former waterfront warehouse that operated as a popular nightclub in the early 1990s. The space was only 2.1m at its highest point with only 1.7m under the beams, creating an oppressive feeling in the space. To increase the height, the designers removed the existing false ceiling and added sections of wall under the beams to segment the space into individual offices.

Slices of glass span the gap between the base of the walls and floor, allowing light to penetrate the floor plate. Solid horizontal panels set between walls house concealed desks and shelving, while the glazed section provide office workers with interesting glimpses into adjoining spaces.
