“POINT” is a fine art project by photographer, Bence Bakonyi who is fast emerging as one of Hungary’s most sought-after contemporary artists. It’s appearance is customary, almost negligible, and yet it determines the structure of the overall view. In the course of our travels we might notice that for others it is something else which is customary, which is ordinary.

Bence Bakonyi picked a piece of our quotidian material surroundings and collected its various versions from all around the world for his photo series. In terms of their functions, they are all the same, but their configuration is distinct in each case, and consequently so is their outlook. The straightforward and minimalist visuality of the series builds on the Becherian tradition (of collection), but its subject is not desolation and solitude, but connection and interconnectedness.
