‘Hypothesis’ is the first survey exhibition in Italy by French artist Philippe Parreno. A central piece of the exhibition is Another Day with Another Sun, 2014, produced by Parreno in collaboration with Kvadrat, who contributed with 1,200 meters of Stoplight Colour 3, used as an important functional and structural element along the entire left side of the exhibition space.

The show, curated by Andrea Lissoni, is inhabited by a series of key pieces together with more recent works characterised by sound and light according to a precise script devised by the artist. The exhibition space is transformed into an environment inhabited by a choreography in which natural light, artificial light and film projections follow each other to conclude the anthology selection of Philippe Parreno’s video and cinema works.

Another Day with Another Sun, in collaboration with Liam Gillick and produced by the LUMA Foundation, is built around a spotlight resembling a luminous planet, slowly navigating across the ceiling, crossing the monumental columns of HangarBicocca’s space and the flickering street of Marquees, projecting long shadows that seem to outgrow the surrounding space. The Marquees and pianos are sequenced to musical compositions by Agoria, Thomas Bartlett, Nicolas Becker, Ranjana Leyendecker, Robert AA Lowe and Mirwais as elements of the soundtrack for the films screened in the exhibition.
