Partizki Liani Architects showroom for Fertival/Antolini assumes an intelligent audience. Largely devoid of references to familiar objects or places, Fertival/Antolini doesn’t flood visitors with obvious precedents and domestic examples, it instead inspires a more imaginative engagement with the materials it exhibits.

Spread across two floors, the designers have drawn from a fairly restrained selection of stones, marbles, travertines and granites.  They have constructed a series of immersive installation spaces, drawing on the qualities of the materials to develop a unique sense of character for each space. Look closely and it’s obvious that the designers and builders have examined every slab and tile, assembling the colour variation and grain like a painter making marks with their brushstrokes.

Fertival/Antolini and Paritzki and Liani clearly had a vision beyond a ho-hum commercial showroom space. Through the designers’ very considered use of materials, the gallery is a grand celebration of the subtleties of colour, veining, texture, reflectivity and at times, transparency of these naturally occurring stones.
