From 3rd to 6th November, Operæ – Independent Design Festival reaches its seventh edition. Born in Turin (Torino) in 2010 as a platform for independent design protagonists, Operæ is both a fair and a curatorial exhibition. Since its foundation, Operæ aimed at incentivising market collaborations and the ability to create virtuous connections, while at the same time putting into play an accurate research and selection work that can mirror – and sometimes anticipate – the international trends in the field.

Operæ has supported what in the latest years been the extraordinary boom of independent design. Every year Sara Fortunati and Paola Zini – Operæʼs founders – select a curator with whom they develop the conceptual direction of the edition. The theme chosen by the guest curator Annalisa Rosso for the 2016 edition is Operæʼs ability not only to analyse the present, but also to anticipate the trends in the design world. “Designing the Future” wants to be an immediate message of openness and awareness: a conscious raising of independent design protagonists. Before a brand new sectorial reality, and a society and an economic system both completely changed within the last decade, Operæ claims it will to “design tomorrow” carrying on plumbing those new movements thought which designers, enterprises and galleries elaborate new choices and inspirations.
