Oigall Projects have staged OFFSITE, their first ‘satellite’ show for Sydney Design Week 2022. Situated at the base of the 1906 sandstone building on Eddy Avenue, the installation brings together seven Australian artists and designers—Den Holm, Brud Studia, Andrew Hustwaite, Cordon Salon, Michael Gittings Studio, Henry Wilson and Brahman Perera—posing the question: How can the foundations of Classical ideals be applied to contemporary design, and what kind of new creative paths could this reveal?Against a backdrop of 1950 Mondrian-style paintwork, the show explores both traditional and unconventional materials and processes, blending experimentation and long-established techniques to create furniture and products that are both familiar and challenging. Combining tradition with innovation, the show centres around the materiality and construction of the object itself, whether a light, a table, or a dumbbell.Making Now: Sydney Design Week 2022 Celebrates Designers Defining the Cultural Moment.Sydney Design Week returns in person for the first time in three years, with seven mega days of exhibitions, talks, film screenings and workshops all across the city’s design hubs.
