Hello, and welcome to the San Sebastián apartment of Spanish designer Mikel Irastorza. I know what you are thinking. Get out! My thoughts precisely. There is so much I love about this place. First of all it’s fantastic ‘bone structure’ with lots of character. Crisp white walls (with the exception of second bedroom) and honey coloured floors set a really lovely warm tone. Colour is introduced through furnishings and accessories – it is used boldly and quite deliberately, but at the same time it is considered and well balanced. There is also a little bit of gold ‘bling’ to spice things up every once in a while, like that beautiful gold leaf wall sculpture in the dining room. And how about the fur throw in the bedroom. Grrrr… baby! I also love the mixture of mid-century German pottery, Danish furniture and lamps scattered through the house, mixed with many modern pieces to create a well rounded and personal look which is neither vintage nor contemporary. “I don’t think I have a particular style, to be honest,” says Irastorza. “I always try to adapt my work to the places, houses, and clients I work with. This house was my own, so it’s a bit of everything. I just knew that I wanted it to be clean and open, but also very warm.”Well you’ve certainly achieved that Mr Irastorza. What a classic, breezy, elegant and bloody beautiful place you have. Well done.Btw, I also saw this apartment on Desire to Inspire a little while ago (click here to see the post). It was a completely different shoot with photography/ quality of light/ styling – amazing what a difference it made to the final feel, no? I know which one I prefer. What do you think?[Images via houzz.]Share the love:FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPinterest 4 Responses LP June 17, 2011 Oh my god. Divine! x Reply Nic Duncan June 17, 2011 This is gorgeous. Seemingly pared back, yet so warm – and those pops of colour are just stunning. This yellow/turqoise combo has popped up a few times on my travels over the past few weeks – loving it.
