“It’s All About Meal” Installation by Massimiliano Locatelli // MILANTRACE2015.

Right-o. I will give you a moment to pick your jaw up off the floor… Are you good? Ok, good… Anyway, let’s not beat around the bush now, dear friends, because these sort of experiences don’t come around every day. Not even during Milan Design Week. “It’s All About Meal”, an installation by Massimiliano Locatelli, is a little nugget I’ve been keeping up my sleeve, especially for you. This incredible installation took place at the front section of Lacatelli’s CLS architetti office, which opened in Milan late last year. Are you confused to read this because this space looks a lot more like a church than an office? Well, that’s because the office is in fact housed within a 16th century Milanese church. Are you freaking serious dude? Oh yes, I’m dead serious. Just wait until I show you more later this week.

“It’s All About Meal” by Massimiliano Locatelli explored the concept of a new conviviality in domestic spaces with an installation of modular tables & chairs in a highly original set up. Locatelli’s “Specchio di Venere” tables evoke a strong sense of transparency and reflection of light, similar to water. The project was developed with Glas Italia who produce the table in four versions: extra clear glass, extra clear mirrored glass, tinted glass with an internal film, and cast glass with an antique silver finish.

Locatelli’s new seats, ML01 – ML02 – ML03, a chair, an armchair and a small armchair, can be transformed into a small bench with a single gesture, and in doing so double their usage. The structure in waxed iron highlights the technical aspect of the design, which is complimented by traditional upholstery in cotton, velvet and leather. ML04 is a detachable table that completes the collection and raises the profile of a simple linoleum finish.

The installation was completed by “Appeal of Meal,” a series of personalised tableware collections that highlight a relationship between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary sensibility.
