Masha Reva is a young fashion designer from Odessa in Ukraine. Her work fuses fashion design with art, graphics, photography and styling. I am rather fond of the concepts and the execution behind her two recent collections – “Botanical Layers” (a collaboration with SYNDICATE of Kiev) and “Merging”.

The prints for “Botanical Layers”explore the juxtaposition of the rapid pace of contemporary life, gadgets and social networks, with a yearning for our natural environment. The prints are a metaphor for a lush botanical garden laced with Photoshop layers and loading bars. Genius.

Her “Merging” collection is visually arresting and mixes oversized patterns and bold colours with impeccable photography and styling, reminiscent of modern Renaissance. Super badass!

After completing her MA in fashion from Kiev National University of Technology, Reva won two competitions with her graduate collection. This gave her the chance to travel to New York for an internship at Thakoon, and to London for a short course at Central Saint Martins. She recently also completed an internship at Walter Van Beirendonck studio in Antwerp, Belgium.

With such an illustrious start to her career, I probably don’t need to tell you that this young lady is the one to watch. See more images in gallery below.
