This psychedelic apartment in Bologna by Mario Montesinos explores the domestic space as a bridge between the physical and virtual worlds we inhabit. Inside is an intense chromatic range of blue and greens, layered in a range of materials, shapes and textures. The lurid colours and irregular shapes ultimately mirror our online experience.Based in Valencia, the young architect and designer’s multidisciplinary work ranges from theoretical research to the creation of spaces and objects that explore the limits between virtuality and reality, nature and artifice and the user’s relationship with technology. “We are involved in a fragmented space that combines the physical and the virtual, while the boundaries between these two dimensions become more porous, fluid, transformative and mutating,” Mario explains. The New Digital Reality: The Rise of Next-Generation 3D Renderings. What all of these fictitious spaces have in common is their ability to cross multiple creative fields like conceptual thinking, art direction... With different industrial finishes like metal laser cutting and textured glass, the result is a space that mirrors our online experience.“The real converges with the virtual in an assemblage of experiences, the physical and the virtual body no longer contradict each other, they intertwine. A hyperreality, where a secondary superstructure occupies almost the place of the real materiality,” Mario concludes. The Art Of Recycling: Studio ilio Challenge Manufacturing Process & Our Perception of Materials. This innovative material process transforms an existing material - steel fibres - into flexible sheets, which are explored within the traditional fields...
