Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades at Palazzo Bocconi Milano // MILANTRACE2015.

During Salone del Mobile and Milan Design Week 2015, Louis Vuitton provided a little respite with a spectacular show dedicated to its ‘Objets Nomades‘ at Palazzo Bocconi. The opulent interiors of Milan’s 19thC Palazzo were transformed into a scene straight out of a luxury jungle safari. Intricate wall paneling and marble and marquetry floors were layered with lush green foliage, creating a surreal and spectacular setting for the exclusive collection of lighting and furniture.

‘Objets Nomades’ was originally launched in 2012, inspired by the Louis Vuitton’s history of innovative luggage design. For 2015, new additions include a ‘Concertina’ chair, side table and lamp by London-based duo Raw Edges, designed on the principles of comfort, foldability and strength. Gwenaël Nicolas’ folding fabric lamp and roll-up canvas bed were inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s travels to Africa. Damien Langlois-Meurinne’s elegant valet stand and hanging plant holder are a nod to Louis Vuitton’s historical made-to-measure trunks.

Raw Edges, Gwenaël Nicolas and Damien Langlois-Meurinne have joined the existing LV collaborators such as Campana Brothers, Patricia Urquiola, Barber & Osgerby, Nendo, Maarten Baas and Atelier Oï. Following this year’s debuts, the meticulously crafted collection now comprises sixteen luxury items fit for the most discerning modern traveller.

In parallel to the spectacular Objets Nomades, the courtyard of Palazzo Bocconi showcased a previously unrealised Miami beach house designed by the modernist architect Charlotte Perriand in 1934.
