LOD’s new ceramic lamp collection emphasises unique silhouettes with the use of monochrome.

This collection of ceramic lamps and glass objects has landed in our inbox and we are in love. Designed “as a reaction to the present”, the pieces by Los Objetos Decorativos combine materiality, colour and form to create something utterly unique.

The woman behind the brand, Rosa Rubio, works out of her hometown of Valencia, Spain to design unique pieces that balance originality with personality—alongside a big dose of the collective visual memory. “My work is about materiality, exploring through the use of materials, prototyping techniques and manufacturing processes to create new languages within contemporary crafts,” Rosa says.

The studio has reissued its glass lamp line—now with a ceramic base. The large dimensions add a sculptural character to the pieces, and the ornamental details nod to fashion and tailoring. The volumes and silhouettes of the lamps are its most striking feature, emphasised by the use of monochrome.

Also honing the technique of glass fusing and thermoforming, the line of plates, bowls, trays and wall lamps move effortlessly between the decorative and the functional. “In line with the learning of fusing technique, we consider the exploration and acceptance of any imperfection as a way to create singular, unique and unrepeatable pieces,” Rosa elaborates. “Where the error defines a formal and personal style to this new collection of glass elements.”

The compositions range from geometric to irregular to volumetric, with shapes and colour choices that endeavour to convey a direct emotion to the viewer. To see the full collection, click here.
