A Home for Stone: The Pietra Collection by Just Adele.

For Melbourne maker Adele Cotruzzola, marble has been a constant in her life. The designer and founder behind Just Adele draws on her own background and context to craft high-quality, small-batch pieces designed to be used forever. “I have memories of my family gathered around big marble tables, [my] pieces are designed to be the centrepiece of a room, that brings people together and starts a conversation,” Adele explains.

For her latest collection, Pietra, Adele collaborated with local design practice Golden on a photo shoot in their recently completed studio. Bathed in an afternoon glow, the sculptural stone creations feel right at home in the thoughtfully designed space. Like a visual diary, the project celebrates the connection between furniture and architectural finishes.

Maximalist in detail and minimalist in form, the shots are a testament to Adele’s aesthetic. “I design pieces with materiality front of mind, hero-ing the stone which has its own inherent individuality, ensuring no two pieces are the same,” she elaborates.

With the striking Pietra table in Cipollino Marble and Bronze Patina front and centre, the space layers mixed materials—travertine, timber and Viola Calcatta against the warm hues of the Milanese-inspired project.

While often sourcing and making pieces from her atelier in Italy, in an ode to Melbourne and local design the featured pieces have been crafted in Australia. Working with made-to-order and small-batch production allows the designer to take a considered approach to furniture manufacturing, whilst maintaining and sustaining traditional craftsmanship methods.
