In a historic mansion that once housed Napoleon’s office (so casual!!!), interior architect Joris Poggioli has reimagined a 90-square-metre apartment into a contemporary sanctuary. Located in Paris‘ 10th arrondissement on rue Paradis, this renovation orchestrates a dialogue between past and present. The apartment’s transformation began with Poggioli unveiling original architectural elements that had been concealed by previous renovations. “The idea was to highlight all the historic parts of the apartment,” explains Poggioli. With soaring 4.2-metre ceilings, the space showcases meticulously restored period features—including ornate mouldings, historic fireplaces, and original doors—while seamlessly introducing modern design elements exclusively utilising a black & white palette.Smooth as Butter: Primerochnaya Concept Store by Polina Ditsman.Almost as if the store was a cake wrapped in creamy white fondant, there's something smooth and seamless about Polina Ditsman’s design of multi-brand concept store, Primerochnaya. Poggioli’s intervention is marked by his signature minimal aesthetic, evident in the custom-designed kitchen, sculptural furniture pieces, and thoughtfully curated art collection. The interior features an impressive array of collectibles, including rare Amerindian sculptures (previously exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and a series of Donald Judd-designed bowls by Puiforcat. The space brings together vintage finds and contemporary pieces. A Butterfly floor lamp by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Flos adds sculptural presence, while Nordic Knots’ artisanal rugs ground the spaces with textural warmth. The bathroom features a striking Fratina chair by Marco Ceroli, sourced from Galerie Yves Gastou, while the bedroom showcases a dramatic sculptural headboard of Poggioli’s design—our favourite element in the space.Harmonious and Surprising: Enfants Rouges Paris Apartment by Studio Carré.Studio Carré's design leverages the unique geometry of the space, creating a dynamic interplay between modern elements and preserved historical features.
