Polish-born, naturalised Brazilian designer and architect Jorge Zalszupin (1922- 2020), would have turned 99 on June 1st. As a homage to his legacy, ETEL, the official editor of his designs since 2005, presented ‘(Entre)Tempos: A tribute to Jorge Zalszupin’, an exhibition set inside the house he designed and lived in for the past 50 years.Opened to the public for the first time, Lissa Carmona, ETEL CEO, and Mariana Schmidt of MNMA Studio, the curator of this beautiful exhibition, delivered an ephemeral and contemporary atmosphere. Free of ornaments, the house interior highlights the essential substance of Zalszupin’s body of work, ranging from architecture and design, to fine arts.Zalszupin’s architecture surprises for its voluptuous forms, Jacaradá flooring, sculpted wall niches and curved ceilings. The home’s interior captures a well-chosen selection of original pieces by the celebrated designer; some that being to the original house, and others edited by ETEL and licensed by Jorge himself and his family.
