Cristian Lind of the interior design studio Temporärt and architect Jack Dalla Santa have joined forces to launch their debut furniture collection. Driven by the conviction that the most sustainable material is the one that has already been used, the collection is produced locally in Stockholm out of high quality reclaimed wood.

Handmade using dimensionally adapted manufacturing and a selective choice of materials that guide the collections, the result are new, unique and expressive pieces that are simultaneously decades-old.

“The brand is in many ways born out of insights from the building industry and the feeling that far too much good material is being lost in the huge number of renovation and demolition projects going on in our cities,” explains Lind. “However, it is not only based on the idea of making the world a better place through sustainable and circular production, but also the realisation that this is the only reasonable way to work in order to continue doing what we love.”

“This project has solved the equation of how to produce locally and sustainably, while preserving quality. It is an approach that Temporärt has been eager to initiate,” continues Lind. “At the same time, we’ve been able to draw inspiration and references from the vintage furniture we’ve been selling for over ten years.”

Both refined and robust, the handmade chair is constructed out of wooden profiles adjusted to take care of the best pieces of the reclaimed timber. It has a straightforward assembly, generous seating and can be stacked.

The Contem armchair, with its simplicity of construction and strong, rectilinear shape builds on nostalgic designs of the modernism and postmodernism eras while remaining true to the brand’s ethos. Utilitarian and unfussy, the beauty of the unfinished timber throughout the collection shines as the main event.

The collection launched at Stockholm Design Week this February with the Contem stool, chair and armchair exclusively displayed in their showroom alongside additional pieces in development. For more information visit contem.se.
