Hugh Altschwager is a sixth generation farming son from South Australia’s Limestone Coast whose upbringing saw him splitting his spare time between the ocean and the workshop. After studying Architecture and working in construction management, he merged his previous experiences and passions to form Inkster Maken in 2013. Influenced by both the Australian environment and his Nordic heritage, Inkster Maken utilises locally sourced, unprocessed natural materials to create long lasting products with a timeless aesthetic.

The new Foxfire Pendant is an elegant feature pendant featuring a 3 component interlocking assembly, making it suitable for a range of material and size combinations. The Eclipse Wall Light was inspired by the natural phenomenon of a solar eclipse. It can be manufactured in a range of sizes and materials and is intended for use as atmospheric feature lighting. The Matchstick Lamp is a new ambient lamp crafted using solid hand turned limestone and timber. It follows the ethos of using locally sourced unprocessed natural materials with a minimal Nordic influenced aesthetic. Suitable for use as a bedside or table light, this lamp will help to create a warm inviting atmosphere in any setting.

Inkster Maken’s lighting products are created using turned South Australian Limestone and a variety of timbers. All products are designed and hand crafted by Hugh in Melbourne, Victoria.
