Hermès Home Collection Unveiled at Milan Design Week 2021.

Never the ones to do things by half measures, Hermès staged another standout display during Milan Design Week 2021. Taking over the famed La Pelota venue in Brera with a dramatic installation designed by long-term collaborator Charlotte Macaux Perelman, the French luxury brand unveiled their new collections for the home. Colours, materials and know-how were expressed in a display offering remarkable graphic perspectives. For the first time ever, an audio accompaniment also connected visitors to the objects.

This year, materials continued to be a major focus, playing on raw and natural materials, incorporating unique expertise and know-how. Oscillating between tradition and innovation, Hermès artisans pushed the limits of working with leather, textiles, metals and stone, while ensuring precise lines. The new collections embrace the simplicity of an elegance that gives way to refinement and comfort.

The standout of the collection was the organically shaped, generously proportioned seat with distant origins, designed by Studio Mumbai. With a wooden frame, it is encased in an unprecedented blend made from cellulose microfibres. This robust and sensual totemic chair is hand-varnished and hand-painted, line after line, offering an intimate relationship with the material.

Manuel Rocha Iturbide worked with Antonio Fernandez Ros and Rogelio Sosa to create the audio universe that accompanies the presentation of Hermès’ collections at Milan Design Week.
