Last month
I wrote about an exciting poster competition run by our friends at Herman Miller (in case you missed it you can check out the post here). Herman Miller received an overwhelming number of entries for the competition, which were narrowed down to just ten finalists chosen on the basis of being best at celebrating the spirit of SAYL Chair. Some of the finalists are shown above and you can check out the rest over on Herman Miller’s facebook page.

Winning entry by Sam Heikkinen from Singapore. Woot! Congratulations Sam!

After much deliberation and careful thought, Steve Frykholm, Herman Miller creative director and graphic design legend, has chosen Sam Heikkinen’s submission as the competition winner (shown above). Sam’s poster will appear alongside HM’s archive artworks and 10 new commissions when the exhibition opens on Aug 14th (tomorrow) at fortyfivedownstairs in Melbourne. The exhibition runs through to August 25th, before touring throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Below is a sneak peek of some of the new commissions created for The Power of the Poster. Brilliant stuff!
