Straight out of a Saint Laurent fantasy, Hauvette & Madani’s first furniture collection certainly brings the heat. Staged in the den of the Galerie Yves Gastou and dripping in sex appeal, the duo reconnects with the tradition of decorators from the 1920s and 1930s with an atmosphere of travel and decadence.

Reminiscent of clandestine gambling caves like the opium dens of Indochina, the coffee table with its lacquered top turns heads. A nod to travel in Orient-Express, the bedside table in burr maple and smoked mirror reinterpret the Art Deco aesthetic. The luxury of materials, such as the alabaster of the GABY wall light reinterpreting Pierre Chareau, is combined with elegant simplicity.

Free and instinctive, Hauvette & Madani defend the game against uniformity. The furniture, inspired by perfume from the 1970s, conjures up images of felt podium armchairs and sofas and women with low necklines of silk and with smoking red lips.

Lively furniture — where you can toast the best whiskey on a stainless steel tray, sing, dance and start or end the night. Thus lanterns adorned with wild silk and trimmings pom poms, or a raffia wall lamp, are moreover made up with a new sensuality.

Each creation is handmade, and in limited edition, by French and Italian master craftsmen—trimmings, cabinetmakers, upholsterers—and can be discovered under the religious and benevolent eye of works of art by Jean Touret, Jessica Boubetra or even
Alain Jacquet.

Samantha Hauvette and Lucas Madani met on the benches of the Camondo school and have been working together ever since. With natural materials and a singular defined aesthetic dictating their portfolio this latest foray into furniture design should be of no surprise—nothing feels more natural.
