Gräffenberg presents a brand new clothing experience, one that focuses on merging fashion and wellness to deliver active ingredients straight to the body. The first skin-nurturing brand in the world and the beginning of beauty wear, the brand’s ultimate goal is to elevate the concept of self-care to help people live their best life. The idea formed from a number of trends that are materializing in our lifestyles. The need to actively care for and nurture the skin through beauty and lifestyle choices, and to wear comfortable but functional clothes that adapt to this new hybrid way of working and living. These trends guide the brand’s conscious design and scientific choices, in offering clothes that are comforting and nurturing for the skin.Gräffenberg arises from the German-born scientist, Ernst Gräfenberg who was a leading pioneer in the studies of female sexuality. He developed the first intrauterine device made of copper, the same material that is present in these clothes, and uncovered the female erogenous zone termed “G Spot”. These two concepts, copper and touch serve as the pillars for envisioning beauty wear. Skin, as the largest organ of our body, not only serves as a protective barrier but also as a conduit for outside substances to penetrate the body through absorption. The same way it absorbs harmful and toxic chemicals, it can also absorb active ingredients with healing and rejuvenating properties. Clothes are in constant contact with skin, and this has so much power, even though we often forget about this type of almost permanent touch. It all starts with 2 ingredients, cotton and hemp, carefully harvested to create a sustainable and luxurious touch. Particles of copper-oxide, naturally present in the skin and the environment, are shot into the fibre, creating the brand’s ‘G cotton’ with permanent skincare properties and antibacterial powers. G cotton is then intertwined with hemp, a planet-friendly fibre that is produced with less water, zero chemicals and zero waste, forming a nurturing fabric. To elevate the antioxidant complex, Gräffenberg then infuses the fabric with microcapsules of COENZYME Q 10 to better firm, enhance and freshen skin. When in touch with these fibres, the skin acts like a conduit and absorbs the skincare properties from the active ingredients. This smart fabric, catalysed with copper oxide has anti-bacterial properties that keep clothes fresher for longer, reducing wash frequency – meaning less water, less detergent and less energy used. The catalysed copper is also capable of killing the bacteria behind body odour, achieving not only anti-odour clothes but can also actively deodorise skin. The Ernst Collection is composed of 5 wardrobe essential pieces available in their natural colour, available from graffenberg.co/shop.
