Glas Italia’s stand at Salone was fashioned into a refined contemporary space—the perfect backdrop for the collectible design that blurred the lines between elegant domesticity and the eclecticism of hospitality interiors. Salone del Mobile returned this past June, and our highlights have been coming in hot and fast. For Glas Italia, the Salone’s return was a chance to once again showcase a mind-bending collection of glass furniture. Alongside an impressive wrap sheet of collaborators, the brand pushed the envelope further than ever before and even delved into the archives for inspiration. The new collection unveiled pieces by very big names, including Barber & Osgerby’s Como Mirrors, the Donald tables by Philippe Starck, the Simoon tables by Patricia Urquiola and others by Piero Lissoni and Yabu Pushelberg. The manufacturer also welcomed Inga Sempé to the Glas Italia family with a new mirror cabinet. This year also saw the brand—which was founded in 1972—recreate the Andromeda wall mirrors by Nanda Vigo, a homage to the historic collection designed for Glas Italia in 1974.Bold, fun and often unexpected, Glas Italia took its core material to new heights. Experience it for yourself below.Highlights from Milan Design Week 2022, Part 01.Never before has the proverb “absence makes the heart grow fonder” been truer than this year in Milan during Salone del Mobile.
