It’s especially easy to forget that, to create any real change, substantial and long-term action is required. Florim, a legacy brand with over 60 years of experience in producing high-quality and beautifully honed ceramic surfaces, recently unveiled its “CarbonZero-” initiative, the next step in a continued commitment to creating eco-friendly and people-friendly products.

Since 2008, the Italian company has been releasing a sustainability report in an effort to maintain transparency and improve its operations each year. Alongside their B Corp certification in 2020, Florim has worked hard towards a series of milestones, including the conservation of the environment and resources, such as reusing 100% of the wastewater from the production cycle.

The Compatta collection, designed by Federico Peri, combines a passion for earth as a natural material and an interest in a very ancient construction technique.

The Essential Mood collection presents a blend of earthy and dusty tones, as well as textures and images evocative of an easy-going lifestyle that embraces sustainability and a more mindful approach to time.

Enter “CarbonZero-”, a commitment by Florim to offset all its emissions—plus an extra 10% for good measure—by purchasing certified carbon credits from renewable energy projects in developing countries. The initiative is a tangible effort by the company to combat the overexploitation of natural resources and minimise the environmental footprint of its products.

Florim meticulously assesses its products’ life cycles by calculating their environmental impact. To mitigate emissions, the company has significantly reduced its reliance on natural resources while investing in sustainable practices and ensuring that its production processes like water, electricity and waste recovery are optimised up to 100%.

New Products

All of Florim’s 2023 products are part of the newly launched “CarbonZero-” initiative, including the whole FLORIM Stone range created for kitchen tops and furniture design.

A standout in the range is Compatta, the collection designed by Federico Peri and launched at Salone del Mobile 2023. Combining the impression of raw earth with expression and the most advanced ceramic production techniques, Compatta showcases the experimental spirit of Florim’s CEDIT brand.

Florim’s other new collections, presented last September, also adhere to “CarbonZero-” and include Eccentric Luxe, Essential Mood, Biotech, Coretech and Stone Life, each resulting from the company’s signature technological know-how and continuing research.
