This Madrid home was made to enhance every hour of the day. From the first morning light, dancing across the polished regal green stone flooring, to the soft, warm midday hum lazing around the living room, finally coming to a close by hosting in the ultra-cool, conversational kitchen, with its steel and stone details that bid you farewell as you move to the quiet of the bedroom, closing out the daily cycle with pristine peace. This is what OR23 does best, and I bet the team at Estudio Reciente knew exactly what they were doing when they put these materials in conversation with each other.Estudio Reciente 💥Explore more projects by Estudio Reciente on Yellowtrace Archives. You're welcome. The careful curation of textures, tones and temperaments is brought to life by the wall of windows, letting light in from the apartment balcony and allowing it to bounce from object to object, connecting them on an almost subliminal level. The furniture choices are decidedly urban, with the combination of white leather, chrome and glass taking you back to the ultra-mod apartment of the 90s, only to be warmed up with the toasty tan armchairs and marshmallow lounge. This heat is required, as the stylish stone flooring brings a coolness to the space that compliments the musky mosaic columns alongside the demi-dowelled timber battens that run vertically and all the way to up the ceiling, where they are repeated to create a horizontal organisation to the space.Living in Colour: La Moraleja Residence in Madrid by Plutarco.La Moraleja residence is proof that with vision, talent, and a dash of daring, you can teach an old house new tricks. This detail is evident in the kitchen too, but this time, having a discussion with the stainless steel casework and island bench, its heavy stone top adding a certain richness to the space, and contributing a sense of luxury. Here, the furniture matches the energy of the space once more, with the steel stools and table legs, topped with another variation of marble and rounded out with the burnt sienna banquette that brings comfort to the space, ensuring the kitchen is less commercial, more cosy.Around the corner is the bedroom, a modern take on the calm of a seaside holiday with its whites and blues, as if heading further north to San Sebastian. The casework is a little bit Rorschach in its presentation, but it works, as the rest of the space is serene and sensible. This theme continues through to the bathroom, where the serenity is punctured by the earthy basin, a regular, alongside the demi-dowel detail, throughout this home. And so, the day comes to an end, and so does the chatter amongst the materials and patterns of OR23, after yet another successful day of inspiring beauty in a home.Harmonious and Surprising: Enfants Rouges Paris Apartment by Studio Carré.Studio Carré's design leverages the unique geometry of the space, creating a dynamic interplay between modern elements and historical features.
