A combination of shiny brass, bone-coloured walls, dreamy linen and warm timber come together in Emmanuelle Simon’s Parisian apartment, Saint Dominique 1. The interior unfolds as a quiet and comforting enclave protected from the noise of the outside world, an adaptable living area for entertaining, as well as a space for quiet moments of solitude – major cosy vibes right there!French-Israeli architect and designer, Emmanuelle Simon, was inspired by Art Deco references and wabi-sabi principles. The resulting light and deeply relaxing palette revolve around natural and mineral tones including sand, terracotta and limestone. A textured travertine coffee table, a Dirk van Sliedregt rattan armchair sourced from LEV Lifestyle gallery in Holland and the ‘Life is an ice-cream’ painting by Hermentaire combine to create an inviting layer to the soothing interior.“The space had to be able to welcome a group of six for dinner, but also be somewhere to relax and read a book”, explains Simon. “Everything had to made bespoke to optimize each area for storage so as not to sacrifice floor space in the humble-sized apartment”. Kitchen cabinetry is made of limestone-coloured waxed concrete. The splashback is formed from shiny brass panelling that captures shimmering, warm reflections, acting a small piece of gold jewellery in the otherwise neutral scheme.
