The showroom is their first display space, and an addition to their wood shop in Brooklyn. Formerly a law office, the interior comprises two main open-plan showrooms and two smaller vignette-like areas, utilizing airy yet rich materiality.Custom elements by Egg Collective adorn the space, including mirror polished steel hardware and a polished stainless steel reception desk. Sheer olive green curtains hang from a curved partition at the entryway. Honed limestone flooring accentuates carpets in muted tones of green and mustard.Various display rooms flow from one to the other through open entryways, distinguished by brush-stroked wall paint in pale jade, blush, and ivory. The wall treatments from the ‘Matte’ collection by Callidus Guild, low VOC finishes that naturally aid in purifying the air. Textile artist Hirolo Takeda created a boucle and wool basketweave upholstery fabrics, especially for the space.Pieces by Egg Collective are on display, including new designs launched in tandem with the showroom opening such as the Landry Bookcase, Hornbake Sofa, Finn Table and Martie console. Having worked on the collection and showroom simultaneously, the designers allowed the scale of architecture and furniture to inform and play off one another.In tandem with the showroom opening, Egg Collective debuted their new art programme with ‘Material Matters,’ a group exhibition featuring works by Mimi Jung, Kristina Riska, Matthew King, Tealia Ellis Ritter and Stephen Somple. Curated by fine art photographer Tealia Ellis-Ritter, each work seeks to make materials that are naturally rigid appear with fluidity, revealing the impact the artist can have on the effect of form and void.
