Dries Otten is a young furniture designer, interior architect and scenographer based in Belgium. We are in love with his commitment to colour and his ability to design playful joinery loaded with personalty. One of his latest projects (shown above) is a renovation of an old schoolhouse along the Auwegemvaart in Mechelen, Belgium, which includes a graphically-inspired, colour-blocked kitchen. Queue squeals of excitement here! Birch plywood cupboards wrap around the corner of the white space, combining kitchen, desk space and bookcase into one smooth block.Meanwhile, over in Rotterdam (below), Otten designed another colourful family kitchen that features polished pine plywood, paint, laminate, perforated metal and copper. Plenty more examples of his joyous joinery prowess can be found on his website.
