Led by Daniel Atlason and Hordur Kristbjornsson, the design team were given freedom to create a unique and daring hospitality experience. The result is an eye-catching space combining industrial elements with cult design classics, in an interior that radiates freshness, playfulness and originality. The clever combination of minimalism and brutalism creates an eclectic aesthetic that features custom furniture paired with a collection of rare design pieces from the likes of Pierre Jeanneret and Ettore Sottsass. The custom-made furniture is inspired by factories where leftover materials are used to create simple, playful and robust pieces. This quirky approach extends to other parts of the hostel – for example, luxurious hotel suite is located next to the bunk beds, and a soundproofed karaoke room is situated in the middle of the fine-dining restaurant.dodlur.is [Photography by Ari Magg.] Share the love:FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPinterest 2 Responses Yellowtrace Spotlight: Design News December 2016.
