The most recent Dior Spring 2015 show, held in the garden of the Rodin Museum in Paris is no exception. Mirrored surfaces, kaleidoscopic scaffold structure and a perfect shade of pink carpet set the scene for a devastatingly sophisticated spectacle.Among the most memorable looks in the collection were the impossibly light dresses and skirts with ribbon stripes and razor-sharp pleats. Refinery29 and legendary fashion publisher Visionaire get us behind the scenes to tell the story of one dress from birth to runway – 200 hours and many, many hands edited down into a couple of short minutes. It’s an incredible revelation, and when one sees what goes into these garments, the exorbitant prices of couture start to seem a little less crazy. A wonderful reminder of what it takes to create and own the best, and why we all have to pay (and charge!) accordingly, irrespective of our profession. Amen.
