I don’t know about you, but I find this series of photographs absolutely hilarious. And really clever and sweet at the same time.Japanese photographer MitsukoNagone uses herself as the subject in her series ‘I am more than my face : )’. This project is about exploring the concept of personal identity – below is a statement from the artist. With this project, I intend to create myself, instead of finding my identity. People often ask themselves, ‘who am I?’ However, the definition of who they are could limit their own possibilities and the infinity of their essences. I believe that the self should be created, instead of being found. The self-portraits explore this idea since the face, [which] seems to emphasize ‘who’ a person is, is obscured. Mitsuko Nagone grew up in a small city in southern Japan. She moved to Tokyo where she studied photography at the College of Tokyo Visual Arts, followed by her moved to New York City to continue her studies at LaGuardia Community College. She currently resides in Japan, where she works as a freelance photographer contributing to Getty Images.[All images © Mitsuko Nagone.]Share the love:FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPinterest 4 Responses Franz July 21, 2011 This photos are amazing. regards Franz Reply victoria July 21, 2011 love these so much!
