Deglan Studios have graced our pages a few times—from an off-kilter tattoo parlour to a serene beauty clinic in Hamburg—and the duo never fail to excite us with their unique brand of soft minimalism. Helmed by a creative partner couple, Domenic Degner and Falko Landernberger, today’s project happens to be the interior design and furniture practice’s origin story.Carried out in 2019, their first collaborative experiment was their own home in Berlin. The project, which rolled on into 2020 quickly became Deglan’s very own corona renovation as Domenic and Falko worked tirelessly while living in the 19 square metre studio apartment next door, now a guesthouse for visitors. Talk about a baptism by fire.Located in downtown Berlin, the apartment was completely reimagined to create a bungalow feel. To achieve this, all doors were repositioned and designed as almost ceiling-high double doors. The bathroom, initially in a raw state, was dismantled and reconfigured with an enlarged reception area in front of it and a separate toilet.Lilian Von Trapp Jewellery Atelier in Berlin by Domenic Degner.Inspired by a watering hole carved from stone, an earthy palette and organic shapes define this new atelier for jewellery label Lilian Von... Black timber veneer cupboards covering one wall and a matching kitchen island are tempered by plaster grey walls and natural light streaming in from the windows. In a very un-German move oak planks and natural stone were used as flooring so guests can keep their shoes on.The studio’s now synonymous style of cool restraint is on full show here, from the stone fireplace in the living room to the boulder-like breakfast bar, no doubt designed by the duo. Much of the work was carried out by the couple themselves, from plastering the entire apartment to installing the bathroom and kitchen. Now with their own studio, their passion for craftsmanship has since resulted in unique furniture pieces and high-end interior designs. All in the Detail: LD Apartment in Rome by Incognito Studio.Flexibility and movement go hand in hand in this home, evolving with the cadence of life and the spirit of Rome woven into every...
